About Aidanfield Christian School

Aidanfield Christian School is a composite (primary and secondary) state integrated school.

Aidanfield Christian School is our new school name. Canterbury Christian College operated from 1996, when Avon Christian College and King’s Christian School joined together on the St Joseph’s Boys Home site in Nash Road. Since that time the school has integrated into the state system and is currently undergoing a significant upgrade in its buildings and programmes.

As a state integrated school we have the freedom to employ only Christian teachers and staff and to base our curriculum on a biblical Christian world view. Because of this we are able to ensure that a consistent set of values is both taught and maintained in the school environment.

As a state integrated school we use the New Zealand national curriculum to guide our programmes of learning, but we deliver this curriculum from a biblical world view, encouraging our pupils to explore ideas and issues in age appropriate situations.

As a composite school we have years 0 to 10 on our site (from 5 year olds to 15 year olds or the old form 4). This gives us the opportunity to specialise in age appropriate education in the primary and middle years.

We have developed a pathway for our pupils to automatically enter the Middleton Grange Senior College at Year 11 (the old form 5) for families that are considered preference (i.e. are able to sign and demonstrate a commitment to the statement of faith in an ongoing fashion). In this way our pupils benefit from the smaller school family environment at Aidanfield Christian School while they are in their formative years and then make the adjustment to the bigger school environment and the curriculum and extra curricular opportunities that the big school is able to offer – the best of both worlds!

Over the next decade we have plans to build new buildings and facilities. Our site is 12.5 acres, so we have plenty of room to design and build learning centres to house the various ages that the school caters for.

Our school will appeal to parents looking for quality education within the context of character development and a caring Christian environment. We believe that education is a lot more than just learning facts and figures, or training for employment. Rather, education is about laying down foundations for life based on the truths of God as revealed in the Bible. These truths deal with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of our children. Thus we endeavour to grow wisdom as well as knowledge.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to find out more about the school.

Yours in His service
