The Middle Years - Year 7 to Year 10
Pupils at this age are becoming more independent. They are developing abstract thinking skills and have a greater capacity to express themselves creatively. Pupils are developing and exploring their own identity. These are years of great change. It is an exciting time!!
Support Pupils receive support and guidance from their form teachers, the Head of Middle School and the School Counsellor. All pupils set academic goals, self-management and spiritual goals at the start of the year, which are reviewed each term. All pupils also benefit from high levels of individual instruction afforded by small class sizes. Our pupils enjoy being in a school with a strong sense of community and collective care.
Identity and Spiritual Development Middle school pupils seek to explore new experiences and test boundaries. They can find life a very complex affair and question their identities and their roles in the real world. As pupils expand from concrete thinking to abstract thinking, they often make personal moral judgements and recognise ethical values.
Middle school pupils are developing in their faith and are becoming more inquiring. They are prepared to ask difficult questions, seeking more than anything else, truth and authenticity. They are not fooled for very long by people who pretend to know the answers. Questions at this stage of development may seek comparison with other religions. The basic gospel message is one of the foundations of our faith and is reinforced at every level.
All curriculum areas are taught from a biblical worldview.
Teamwork Students benefit from the cohesion and relevance of coursework that has an interdisciplinary focus. At Aidanfield Christian School our Middle School teachers are implementing interdisciplinary foci so our pupils will see the connections between different curriculum areas and develop a passion for lifelong learning.
Our Vision Aidanfield Christian School is to serve and work together with families in equipping children in a Biblical community to: - Pursue excellence in academic learning - Understand their identity - Become discerning thinkers - Be faithful in service to God
